Prof. “Thirukural” BASKARAN
Prof. Baskaran, popularly known as “Thirukural” Baskaran is familiar face in the learned circle. Undergoing a host of Schools, Colleges, Institutions and Universities, he won many laurels and then held at several prestigious posts, commandable ranks and priseworthy positions.
Started his career as demonstrator in College, he adorned various posts like Asst. Prof, Professor, Principal and Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education working in multifarious institutions like Arts and Science College, Education College, Engg. College, Medical College, Veterinary College and University.
He has authored many books and his articles have been published in many leading magazines. He has given radio talks and T.V. programmes on Science subject and Thirukural.
After retirement in 1992 he founded “ Karunakaran Ninaivu Thirukural Noolakam” in fond memory of his beloved only son propagating Thirukural by all means. By his sheer efforts, the curiculum on Environmental Science in School Education shines remarkably invoking awareness in nature safety. It is not a secret to hide that he has a collection of Thirukural edited in as many as 65 languages and offers Thirukural freely to other language people if they demand. Presently in the morning he delivers daily an hour lecture on Thirukural at Tower Park Anna Nagar and annually donates free books and uniforms to 30 needy students.
