New Software To Trace Hoax Calls
HCL Technologies is developing new software for city police to trace the origin of calls, both distress and hoax, landing at the police control room.
The city police decided to upgrade their software with several shortcomings after the threat call to the President’s flight a month ago.
After verifying the status of the technology in the control room, CoP Ms.Letika Saran decided to upgrade the software.
The present software was developed in 2000 and the system still runs in Windows 2000. HCL has sent a technical person to learn the working of the system at present.
As of now, the police only have the BSNL database. A few days ago, the top police officers held a meeting with private service providers like Airtel, Aircel, Hutch, Reliance and Tata Indicom to give access to their customer database to make it easy for the police force, said sources.
