4 From TN Made Karate Continental Referees
The World Union of Karate-Do Organizations (WUKO) has for the first time felicitated four Tamil Nadu referees out of 15 Asians by awarding them the recognition status of Continental Referees through WUKO International Referee Council for their excellent performance in the recently held Asian tournament at Vishakapatnam.
In the history of karate, no one from Tamilnadu had ever been recognized even as a Judge by any global organization.
Kokino Shito-ryu Karate School, Chennai, which has been in existence for over 27 years, has finally got this long pending recognition status. The recipients of this prestigious recognition are Shihan S.Kothandan (37 years experience 7th Dan), Sensei L.Vijayakumar (24 years experience 5th Dan), Sensei A.Ganesan (17 years experience 4th Dan) and Sensei S.M.R.Mahendran (16 years experience 4th Dan).
Apart from this, UKAT Shitoryu karate team boys and girls won 17 medals at the tournament.
