An Effective Leader
Capt.Dr.M.Venkataramanan is a reader, post graduate and research, Department of Economics in DG Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam.
He completed his graduation in economics at Loyola College in 1979. He was the secretary of Economic Association during his college days and represented Tamil Nadu in ‘Bayonet fighting’ at Kashmir.
He did his post graduation at Presidency College during 79-81 and M.Phil in Madras University in 1983. During 84-86, he was a full-time research scholar at Madras University.
From 1986 till now, he is working in DG Vaishnav College. Earlier, he worked in Sacred Heart College, Thirupattur, and Voorhes College, Vellore, as an Asst. Professor. He did his basic PUC and Ph.D. at the same DG Vaishnav College.
Since 1994, he is the associate officer of the Infantry arm of the NCC. His cadets produced four all India best cadets awards and represented Tamil Nadu at the Republic Day parade 2006. He was the first person to receive the ‘Defence Secretary Award’.
He participated and organised several conferences and is a member of Tamil Nadu Economic Association and Indian Economic Association and secretary of Presidential Welfare Association.
He is the deputy warden of the college hostel from 2002 and the vice president of the subject of economics. He was the captain of the staff cricket team at the sports meet conducted by Ramachandra Medical College and also acted in a Tamil movie ‘ABCD’
He has produced more than 30 scholars and he is the project guide for IGNOU and other universities.
His wife, Mrs.Padmaja, is no man achiever either, a post graduate working in the Directorate of Fire & Rescue Service as senior assistant. They reside at 5/780, Kavimani Street, Mogappair West, Chennai-37. Ph. 26534313.
