Food Bank Crosses One-Crore Meal Mark
Rya Metro Trust, Chennai Food Bank, has crossed the milestone of providing more then one crore meal to the needy over the last 15 years.
RYA – Metro Trust Food Bank is an ISO 9001 non-profitable voluntary organization having its main objective of working for a “hunger-free world”. It was founded in 1993.
“Muthi Bhar Anaaj” and “Anna Dan” are the two main schemes adopted by the Chennai Food Bank to collect food grains from generous donors. On reaching this milestone, Chennai Food Bank organised a function at Avvai Home, Besant Nagar, on Sunday, April 22, which also marked its Annual Project day.
It now has a popular cinestar as its brand ambassador, Mr. Prabhu Deva. Padma Bhushan Dr. V. Shantha, Executive Chairman of the Cancer Institute, Chennai presided over the function. Poet Ms. Kanimozhi was the guest of honour. The chairman of Food Bank Mr. Rajesh S.Jain presented the activities of the Food Bank.
