Book Bank Of Rajasthan Youth Association
Rajasthan Youth Association was formed in 1964; their Book Bank Project was also started during this period. Under this project textbooks are loaned to needy students without reference to their cast, creed or sex. The project covers courses such as Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Medicine, Charted Accountancy Company Secretary and Cost accountancy. Almost all colleges and Poly Technics in Chennai and Chengalpet districts are covered by this project. Almost a lakh of students have been already benefited and annually 2000 new students are added. At any given time there will be at learnt 6500 student beneficiaries. The present value of the Book Bank is over rupees one crore. Time and again the beneficiaries do contribute substantially to this project. A function was held on 22 July to distribute books to the new students at Kamaraj Memeorial Hall Teynampet. The state finance minister Prof.K.Anbazhagan was the chief guest and Sri V.Narayanan, Kanchi Kamakodi Child’s Trust Hospital was the guest of honour. The minister distributed a few token sets of books and Sri V.Narayanan gave away the certificates to few meritorious beneficiaries. The chief guest also released the member’s directory. The president of Association Vijay P. Chorida welcomed the gathering and Manikchand Gothi presented the report of the Book Bank Project. The secretary Shyaam J.S. proposed the vote of thanks.
