A Specialist And Creative Glass Artiste
Anjali Venkat, a resident of Besant Nagar is a specialist, expert and a very creative glass artiste. Anjali who is formally trained in commercial art has moved her focus to designing and creating home accessories since it is very important for her to be surrounded by things that are aesthetically appealing.
Speaking to Chennai Plus reporter, Anjali Venkat said that the art of stained glass has fascinated her since she was 10 years old. Her first encounter was with a Kileidoscope. She learnt to make glass art pieces with fused glass from the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. All the glasses on which Anjali works on, are imported from the United States of America.
Anjali Venkat likes experimenting and mixing different materials. For example, she uses antique Chettinad wooden pieces as lamp base for her stained glass lamp shades (or) she uses glass bangles to create elegant candle shelters etc. Anjali Venkat enjoys creating not only ethnic Indian art but also more contemporary pieces.
Anjali Venkat works with molten glass and also makes stained glass lamps and other artefacts. She has designed a wide range of handcrafted glass art works and stunning glass jewellery. Many of her splendid attractive glass art works are on display at her studio named Anjali Designs in Kalakshetra Colony. Anjali also takes time to conduct classes and workshops on glass art. Anjali Venkat thanks her family, well wishers and friends for all their support and encouragement.
