To Provide Qualitative Higher Education
The Agurchand Manmull Jain College based at Meenambakkam has blossomed into a full fledged educational institution, largely due to the munificence of Padmasri Mahanmullji Chordia. The college was founded in the year 1952 by Sri S.S. Jain Education Society, inspired by Her Holiness, Sayar Kanwarji Maharaj. The college aims to provide qualitative higher education for the young men and women of the Jain community and all other communities in general.
The college located near the Meenambakkam Railway Station is blessed with a magnificent forty acre specious campus with modern class room buildings. The college has excellent infrastructure for sports and games, a well stacked library containing informative and valuable books and a canteen. In addition, there are facilities for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that enrich the lives of the students. The college is dedicated to the principles of Sathya, Dharma and Ahimsa and focuses on maintaining high academic standards and professional development.
Dr. G.K. Francis, the college principal told Chennai Plus reporter that since its inception, the college has maintained high reputation and excellent results. A large number of students of this college hold high positions in business, industry and in all walks of life.
The college celebrated its silver jubilee in 1977 and golden jubilee in 2002. The college also has an evening college section that has completed four decades of yeomen service and has many undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Over the years Agurchand Manmull Jain College has earned a high reputation for excellent academic work.
