Very Interested In Historical Tamil Literature
Dr. R. Srinivasan, a resident of Ambattur is very interested in studying Tamil Grammar, Indian folklore, Rural life style of people, fine arts and Sangam literature. He is a native of Tiruttani. After his school education in Tiruttani, he did his B.A. Economics, M.A. Tamil, M.Phil and Ph.D. in Madras University. Dr. Srinivasan told Chennai Plus that he got his Ph.D by doing works in Tamil Grammar.Dr. Srinivasan worked for one year in a reputed research institute. Later he joined the Government College, Tiruttani as a lecturer. He served the college for a period of 9 years. In the year 2005, Dr. Srinivasan moved to Chennai and joined as a lecturer in the Presidency College. Dr. Srinivasan has written many important and useful books in Tamil. He has written more than 15 books and research papers on various subjects which are mainly based upon Tamil literature during the Sangam Period. Dr Srinivasan’s book on Tamil Grammar and on Tamilians heritage and tradition are indeed very interesting and informative to read. The book Nalla Pillai Bharatham, which deals with the entire great historical epic Mahabaratham was well edited by Dr. Srivnivasan in a neat and easy understandable manner. Moreover, Dr. Srinivasan told Chennai Plus reporter that he has divided the book into 18 sections, 131 divisions and 13949 verses etc.It is reported that the great Tamil scholar Nalla Pillai belonged to the 18th century. He was very talented. Now, after a period of 120 years, Dr. Srinivasan has written this book very well using adequate quotations, sub-titles, small stories, to bring truth and values to the society. Moreover it is a wonder to see the epic Mahabaratham having more than 800 characters. Dr. Srinivasan has used all these characters very carefully while writing his book. Dr. Srinivasan told Chennai Plus that he has simplified the verses in life book and explained each character with sub notes for the people to read and understand easily.Dr. Srinivasan said that he has attended and actively participated in various national and international level meetings and conference especially on the topic Tamilology. Dr. Srinivasan told Chennai Plus that he feels special and happy to publish important books dealing mainly about Tamil heritage and Tamil literature during the time in which the Tamil language is regarded as a classical language. Dr. Srinivasan has taken many years to collect details so that he can bring out good useful information in his books. Dr. Srinivasan thanks his family members, friends and well wishers for all their help and support.Dr. Srinivasan told the Chennai Plus reporter that his future ambition is to write a book on the history of Tamil literature and to produce good research students.
