Painting show based on Everest Base camp

lady-junction3A creative art works solo exhibition of Ms.Shalini Biswajit titled ‘ Ever at Rest ‘ was held at Forum Art gallery, Adyar from 12th February to 14th March 2009.
The Gallery sources told Chennai Plus reporter Elwyn that Ever at Rest is a series of paintings by artist and gallery owner Shalini Biswajit based on her trek to the Everest Base Camp, Nepal in 2008. Shalini Biswajit is a painter and a sculptor and Director of Forum Art Gallery. She has a master’s degree in Fine Arts from Stella Maris College, Chennai. Shalini has exhibited her works widely in India, and abroad and her works can be seen in public and private collections. At Forum Art Gallery, Shalini has organised more than 30 shows from 2002 and takes art closer to people through workshops, art and craft classes, symposiums and art therapy to terminally ill and physically challenged children and adults.

Shalini’s love for nature, exercise and adventure has taken her on several treks in the Himalayan region like, Chomolhari Trek Bhutan, Dzongri - Goechala Trek that takes one closest to the Mt. Kanchenjunga Base Camp, Sikkim, Valley of Flowers Uttaranchal, Silent Valley in South India besides trekking in the Western Ghats. PSORIASIS - Health

A common inflammatory skin condition characterized by frequent episodes of redness, itching, and thick, dry, silvery scales on the skin. Psoriasis is very common, with approximately 3 million Americans affected (or about 8 out of 10,000 people).  It can appear suddenly or gradually.  It may affect any age but most commonly begins between 15 to 35 years old.  It occurs most frequently in Caucasians.Psoriasis seems to be an inherited disorder, and it appears to be related to the immune or inflammatory response.  It is most commonly seen on the trunk, elbows, knees, scalp, skin folds, or fingernails, but it may affect any or all parts of the skin.  Normally, skin takes about a month for its new cells to move from the lower layers of ski up to the surface.  In psoriasis, this process takes only a few days, resulting in build-up of dead skin cells and formation of thick scales. Psoriasis may be aggravated by injury or irritation (cuts, burns, rash, insect bites), and it may be severe in immunosuppressed people (such as with chemotherapy for cancer, or with AIDS) or those who have autoimmune disorders (rheumatoid arthritis).  Medications, viral or bacterial infections, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, lack of sunlight, overexposure to sunlight (sunburn), stress, general poor health, cold climate, and frequent friction on the skin are also associated with flare-ups of psoriasis.  Psoriasis is not contagious.
Symptoms skin patches, dry and / or red, usually covered with silvery scales, raised patches of skin, with red borders, may crack and become painful, usually discrete, demarcated patches, usually located on the elbows, knees, trunk, scalp, hands / nails, skin lesions, including pustules, cracking of skin, skin redness or inflammation ,itching ,small scaling dots on the skin (especially in children), joint pain / aching Additional symptoms that may be associated with this disease : nail abnormalities, genital lesions (male), eye burning, itching & discharge, tearing, increased
TreatmentTreatment is focused on control of the symptoms and prevention of secondary infections. It varies with the extent and severity of the disorder. Severe or resistant cases, or cases involving large areas of the body, may require intensive treatment.  The disorder may be acutely painful.

Shri Doulat Jain has been recently nominated as the Vice-Chairman of the Animal Welfare Board of India by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India. 
A Board Member since 2007, Doulat Jain’s commitment to serve the cause of animal welfare is well known. Whether it is working to stop camels from being killed on Bakri-Id or creating awareness to halt Jallikattu, or promoting humane education in schools and colleges, Doulat Jain has always come forward to take the initiative in preventing cruelty to animals. 
Doulat Jain contributions to the Board’s animal welfare work included helping in the ideation and application of making monitoring systems for grant utilization by AWOs more transparent and efficient and developing a uniform design for construction of shelter houses for cattle.
