The Tamil film industry managed to win five awards in the 60th National Film Awards announced today. Kamal Haasan’s controversial film Vishwaroopam won the awards for best choreography (Briju Maharaj) and best art direction (Ilayaraja).
Director Balaji Sakthivel’s Vazhakku En 18/9 was adjudged the best regional language movie in Tamil cinema and it also won the award for best make-up artist (Raja). Director Bala’s Paradesi won the award for best costume designer (Poornima Ramasamy).
The award for the best feature film has been conferred to Paan Singh Tomar (Hindi) produced by UTV Software communications Ltd and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. The award for the best choreography has been conferred on Pt Birju Maharaj for the film Vishwaroopam.
