AIDS Awareness Drive Launched
Karunalaya Social Service Society, Center for street and working children, launched the “street children’s anti AIDS club” at Memorial Hall, Bible Society compound, Park Town on the eve of the World AIDS Day on November 30.
The chief guest was Dr.P.Kugamantham, health officer Corporation of Chennai.Mr. R. Muruganandhi, NGO advisor, Chennai Corporation AIDS Prevention and Control Society (CAPACS), Mr.S.John Bosco, president Mr.B.Ravikumar David, vice president and Mr.N.Paul Sundar Singh, director of Karunalaya, were the other participants.
Karunalaya is in the service for street children for 11 years. For the past five years, Karunalaya is working for the prevention and treatment of STD, HIV/AIDS among street children in Chennai city. As part of their awareness programme they have trained and promoted 100 peer educators among street children.
The children from this NGO took an oath on the occasion, by lighting candles and a logo was released for awareness against AIDS.
