Science Camp
Mr. M.S.Ananth, director, IIT-Madras, asked students to read biographies of scientists, achieve synergy between left and right brain scientific irreverence, keep an open mind and collect all data. He was speaking to winners of the State’s Children’s Science Academy Awards-2005. The class IX, X, XI students had come from across the state, to attend the science camp that featured presentations and lectures on various topics such as nanotechnology, biotechnology and IT delivered by eminent scientists and scholars. The students will also visit industrial houses and places of scientific importance. The camp was aimed at encouraging students to take up careers in science and technology.
Mr. Ananth explained the difference between the left brain (logical) and right brain (creative) activities and stated that Indians were culturally more tuned to intuitive thinking. He encouraged students to cultivate such thinking. Reading biographies of scientists would help them realize that even intelligent people made stupid mistakes.
