Training On Orchard Maintenance
A one-day training programme on “Orchard Establishment and Maintenance” will be conducted by the Urban Horticulture Development Centre, Chennai, of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Jan. 31(Wednesday) between 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at new No. P. 44, 6th Avenue, Anna Nagar, Chennai - 40 (Behind K4 police station).
The course content will be on selection of land, selection of fruit crops like mango, jack, banana, acid lime, papaya, guava, sapota, pomegranate, annona, tamarind, aonle, WIcherry, jamun, etc. and their varieties, land preparation, spacing, planting, watering, and seedling care for establishment of fruit orchards, seedling suppliers and Government schemes to promote orcharding.
It also emphasizes inter-cropping and yield maximization per unit area.
The programme will be useful to those having vacant lands and interested in growing fruit trees, farmers, gardeners, students, botanists, horticulturists, environmentalists, house wives and senior citizens.
