Meet On Higher Education
Dr. S.Ramachandran, Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras, said massive programmes, including opening more virtual universities and promoting online education, were needed to meet the demand for talent triggered by globalisation.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day National Convention on Contemporary Issues in Higher Education organised by Ethiraj College for Women on Thursday. He said the constraints that stand in the way of promotion of higher education should be eliminated.
The thrust should be to take higher education to a large number of youth because the available higher education institutions were inadequate to meet the demand for human resource, he said.
