Ambattur Estate To Have New Roads
After years of enduring dust-spewing bumpy rides, commuters to and through Ambattur Industrial Estate can finally look forward to better roads.
The Chennai Auto Ancillary Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Company (CAAIIUC) recently awarded work orders for road repair and laying for Ambattur, Tirumudivakkam and Rs.4 crore each. However, the logistics for diversion of traffic during this period would have to be worked out with all the stakeholders.
“Where parallel roads are available, traffic will be diverted there, with only unit holders on those roads traveling through them”, he said.
Coordination of traffic would require lot of police assistance. However, many unit holders had also come forward to offer assistance in that area.
Along with this, an empanelment of contractors is also being called for to fix streetlights in the estates.
“As many as 1400 streetlights will be put up in Ambattur estate alone at an estimated cost of about Rs.3 crore”, he said. Meanwhile, work on the storm water drains (SWD) would also begin soon.
