Giant Sky Wheel History
The giant sky wheel is also known as the Ferris wheel or an observation wheel. It offers a finest view of the surrounding area from the top. The Ferris wheel is a beautiful sight during night time, as the entire wheel is lit-up brightly with colourful lights. The Ferris wheel is a non building structure consisting of an upright wheel with benches for people to sit and enjoy the ride.
Ferris wheel is mostly found at amusement parks, carnival’s fancy fete and in trade fairs etc. Going back in history, the name Ferris wheel is named after the builder George Washington Ferris Jr. He designed and built the first Ferris wheel of about 264 feet high for the World’s Columbian Exposition at Chicago, USA in the year 1983. According to official sources, the first world tallest giant wheel is the Singapore Flyer. It is 165 meters high and was developed by the Great Wheel Corporation. The second world’s tallest giant wheel is the Star of Nanchang, located in Nanchang in China. It is 160 meters high. The third worlds tallest giant wheel is the famous London Eye. It is 135 meters high and located at U.K. London.
