To make railway coaches and canteens more disabled friendly

Members of Tamil Nadu Udavikkaram Association for the welfare of the Differently abled (Association functioning at Ashok Nagar,Chennai) headed by State Gen. Secretary Mr.Gopinath met the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Sri.Pon.Radhakrishnan on 8-06-2014 at the State Guest House, Chennai by greeting him and discussing their welfare measures. The demands included making railway coaches and canteens more disabled friendly, providing of E-Ticketing facility for disabled people and introduction of additional disabled coaches in long distance trains.

Appeal by disabled persons to Union ministerIn the meeting it was also suggested to grant 75 percentage travel concession to people with any type of disability in both Government and private airlines and also provision of 5 percent reservation for disabled persons in Employment and education sector. Sri.Pon.Radhakrishnan, Central Minister, assured the members of the association that he will do the needful and speak to Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi shortly. Mr.T.Vairamani and Mr.T.Deepak Kumar Gupta, State Deputy General Secretaries of the association had accompanied Mr.K.Gopinath, State Gen.Secretary during the meeting.
