Aspiring Student Entrepreneurs Honoured

Students aspiring to become entrepreneurs moved one step closer to realising their dreams at the grand finale of Genesis 2011- IIT Madras’s annual social business plan competition for upcoming. The event was jointly conducted along with C-TIDES ( Cell for Technology Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship Support) and Siva Group, a three billion US Dollar global conglomerate. Team

Aquraegia comprising of students from IIT Madras emerged victorious. The winning team bagged the top honour by presenting their social business plan focusing on Purified drinking water at low cost for the masses. The team BAFF ( Biofuels and Future Fuels) was the runner-up for their project on Biofuels using kitchen wastes.

The winning and runner-up team members were awarded attractive cash awards along with glittering citations during the felicitation function held on 28th August 2011 at IIT Madras campus. I congrulate all the participants for enriching Genises with their enthusiastic participation and project presentation, said Mr.P.Swaminathan, President of SIVA Group.

Over the past years Genisis has evolved from just being a competition to a knowledge eco-system that helps aspiring students entrepreneurs to convert their ideas and talents into commercial feasible but socially responsible business, said Ashwin Mahalingam, C-TIDES, Faculty Advisor.
