The Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus terminus at Besant Nagar is getting renovated. At present raised platform in the center of the terminus is getting removed and the area leveled to facilitate easy parking of buses inside the terminus.
A new time schedule board and seating facility are provided on the side platforms of the terminus. It is also reported that Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) are planning to convert the Besant Nagar bus terminal into a depot. While welcoming the renovation work, the area residents want the Metropolitan Transport Corporation officials to improve the bus service at Besant Nagar bus terminus.
They complained that the MTC officials have cancelled important routes and has introduced luxury deluxe buses on routes number 29C, 47A and 23C from Thiruvanmiyur terminus instead from Besant Nagar bus terminus. Besant Nagar is one of Chennai’s well known neighbourhood, named after the famous lady theosophist Annie Besant.
It is well known for famous Theosophical Society, Kalakshetra Academy, Velankanni Church and Elliots Beach. Better and improved Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus services will be very useful to the area residents and the general public.
