Lions Club International ( Dist -324 A6) conducted National Integration day on Jan 30 th 2010, The District Chair Person Ln.K.Srinivasan , has taken up the project of conducting National integration Day for the past 20 years. In connection with this day Competitions were conducted on Jan 24th 2010 and prizes were distributed to children Drawing ,singing, fancy dress competition were conducted (National integration theme ).

Kids skating in K.K.Nagar Sivan Park

The photograph taken shows kids using the skating rink that was renovated by the Chennai Corporation inside the Sivan park in K.K.Nagar. The residents of KK Nagar area are happy lot, because the Chennai Corporation has beautified the Sivan park with  more public friendly facilities and features. The park wall is also painted and decked up. New playing equiptment is installed for the children play area.

Painting Exhibition

Hearing impaired artist G.Prabhakar, recipient of the National and State award for Best Outstanding Disabled employee is holding an exhibition of his paintings at Lalit Kala Akademi on Greams Road, Chennai-6. Platinum Jubilee Year of a Corporation School

helping-the-poor-studentsArumbakkam Chennai Corporation Middle School celebrated its Platinum Jubilee Year on 26.02.09.Sri N.Subramanian a resident of 49, Second Main Road, Kumaran Nagar,Chennai-92 as usual donated 20 sets of TTK Tamil Atlas ; Lifco (English.-Tamil) Tiny Dictionary and Thirukkural Book with meaning along with one note book and picture of Goddess Saraswathi to all the first, second and third rank holders for classes one to 8.He also donated 21 Mega Lifco dictionaries to all 20 teachers and the Head Mistress as a token of their dedicated services.

Chennai Corporation Middle School Annual Day Celebration

chennai-corpn-middle-schlMr. N.Subramanian, a resident of No-49, Second Main Road, Kumaran Nagar, Chennai-92, distributed free gift hampers to all the 30 students of first standard in the Chennai Corporation Middle  School, Arumbakkam, Chennai 106during the school annual day celebration. Each gift hamper  neatly packed contained one Thirukkural Book (with meaning), one note book, two pencils, one rubber, one scale ,one sharpener and a picture of Goddess Saraswathi and Aarupadaiveedu Murugan and three chocolates.

6th Annual Sports Festival

sboaS.B.1.O.A.  Model Matric. & Hr. Sec. School celebrated its 6th Sports Day with great pomp and splendor on February 21, 2009. Mr. D. Chandrasekaran, 1.A.S., Tamil Nadu State Election Commissioner. Chennai was the Chief Guest. He delivered an inspiring Sports Day message, exhorting students and teachers to cultivate self discipline. Mr. P. Johnson Joseph, Physical Director, read the Annual Sports report.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. S. Kesavamurthi, Local Correspondent. Mr. D. Suresh Kumar President of the trust presided over the function. The Associate Secretary, Mr. N. Mohan Kumar delivered the special address. Treasurer Mr. S. Gornathinayagam and other distinguished guests gave away the prizes to the winners in various sports events.
The variety Entertainment was a colourful cultural feast for the gathering.
Mr. C. Subramanian, Senior principal of SBIOA Model Matric School rendered the Vote of Thanks.

Nostalgic steam engine

nostalgic-steam-engineThe Shahanshah Bullet shaped WP 7200 Steam Engine made a special Heritage  steam run on Republic Day, 26th January 2009 from Royapuram Railway Station to Tambaram Railway Station. The train was flagged off by Southern Railway General Manager Rakesh Chopra in the presents of C.M.E. Southern Railway, V.Carmelus and Chief Workshop Manager N.K.Toppo. It was an enjoyable experience for many people especially the children who thronged near the steam engine to get a good glimpse of it. The 102 tonne steam engine built in the year 1947 by Baldwin Locomotive Works; Philadelphia was in service till 1987.It can achieve a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour. The engine was given a new lease of life by Perambur Locoworks.

Golden Jubilee celebration

golden-jubilee-celebrationFatima Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kodambakkam, celebrated its Golden Jubilee celebration on 24th January 2009.The function was presided over by Thiru. R.Avudaiappan, the hon’ble speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly
The Principal of the school, Sr.Christina rendered the welcome address. The Most Rev.Dr.Lawrence Pius blessed the gathering. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker , Thiru. R. Avudaiappan in his presidential address spoke about the discipline, coaching, etc. of the school and gave away the prizes to the children of all the classes.
Tmt. Nirmala IAS, chairmen and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Minerals, Chennai appreciated the teachers’ involvement and initiative to bring the children in a proper way. Dr. Ramamurthy, Station Director, Nuclear Power Corporation of India limited, Kalpakkam delivered a wonderful speech to encourage children to come up in life. The golden jubilee message was given by Rev. Sr. Mary Ann Fernando FMA, Provincial Salesian Province of Chennai. The entire programs were very colorful and interesting.

Students in Republic Day Parade

students-in-republic-day-paradeOn 26th January 2009 the proud Velammalians of Velammal Matric Higher Secondary School, West Mugappair, Master M.Prasanth and Master A.Bhuvaneshwaran studying at standard IX took active part in the 60th Republic Day Parade organized by the Government of Tamil Nadu, near Gandhi Statue, Marina Beach Road.
They participated in Road Patrol troop in the parade and received the memento and certificates.
The Guard of Honour was received by His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu State, Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala.
