Talent Competition For Children

As a part of the community service rendered by The Rotary Club of Madras Southwest, a Talent Competition for 600 Deaf and Dumb Children of all ages were conducted at The Little Flower Convent, G N Chetty Road on the occasion of Children’s Day, the 14th November, 2008.
The Children displayed and showcased their creative talents in Rangoli, Action songs, Fancy Dress, Dances, Handwork from waste, Recitation, Mehendi, Kolam, Hair Style, Cooking, Fruits and Vegetable carving. Lunch was served to more than 1500 hearing & speech impaired and visually challenged children.

The Rotary Club of Madras Southwest is one of the leading Rotary Clubs in Chennai, which has been serving the community and society for the past 28 years.

Children’s Day Celebration

Nehru’s Birthday celebration as children’s day was celebrated at Kalamandir Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, in a grand manner.

The School Principal Mrs J. RajhaRajeswari organized a program titled “Young Achievers:”, where the students of Std X, XI and XII had interaction with the achievers Ms. Bhavana, 1st year student of B.A., Corporate of Ethiraj College and Ms. Lakshmi teacher of Vidya sagar who are physically challenged people.

They interacted with the children about their achievements, besides their disability. Ms. Sujatha Srinivas, Ms. Sadhiya special Educators of Vidyasagar accompanied them. A grand science expo for the students from Std V to Std IX and XI was organized.

The students participated in the expo with gusto and enthusiasm. Many models and live experiments were exhibited. The best exhibits judged by Sri Parthasarathy and Sri Giridaharan, Science Teachers of Sri RKM Hr. Sec. School, ( South) Chennai 17, were given prizes. The traffic signal colour changes with chemicals, preparation of tooth paste, Food Adulteration, Pond and echo System, were some of the models exhibited.

It was a splash of colours for the children from Std I to IV. A drawing competition was conducted for them on various topics such as Nature, Animals, Flowers and festivals.
The best drawings done were awarded with prizes.

Fancy Dress Competition

Padma Seshadri Balabhavan Senior Secondary School K.K. Nagar, conducted a fancy dress competitions on 4th November on the eve of children day. In the competitions school children are given selective topics. The School children displayed themes representing different countries of each continent, and presented them. They include Talk on important personality of the country, A National monument and National Emblem of India , U.S, France , U.K , Australia , Japan , Germany , South Africa , Russia and Nepal . The events are conducted in a highly professional and educative manner allowing the children to enjoy their presentations. The display of statue of liberty ( B. Sai Smruthi-T.nagar) , Subjhash Chandrabhosh (A. Anirudh-Kodambakkam) and Efile Tower ( R. Anirudh -K.K. Nagar) was attractive. The children are encouraged to talk on a selective aspect. Ms. Balambal Superintendent and Chandra Srinivasan Advisor, P.S.B.B adressed the students and complimented the children.

Navarathri Celebrations At Ghaandharv Kalaikoodam

Various competitions were conducted for children in drawing, painting, fancy dress, recitation of Slokas and Bhajans.
