Adam Sinclair works as the Manager for Indian Overseas Bank, Nehru Park Branch, Poonamallee High Road. Adam is an excellent and talented hockey player. He has a long list of achievements in Hockey and athletics. Adam hails from Coimbatore. Adam Sinclair, as the member of Indian national hockey team, participated at the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens. He made his international debut in the year 2004, during a Four Nation Tournament in Gifu (Japan).
He did his school education at Stanes Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. At Stanes School, Adam was the most estimable in Field Hockey. He was the captain of his own school team. the school won many tournaments under his captaincy. For the year of 2001, he was elected School Pupil Leader. Adam did his further studied in PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. Many accolades and medals were owned by Sinclair as an athlete in the triple jump and long distance running events.
He told Chennai Plus that he had represented India in Athens Olympics in 2004 and also represented India in the Champions Trophy in 2004 in Pakistan. Adam played for India in the Champions Trophy in 2005 in Chennai. He had represented India for the Pakistan Test Series 2004 and 2006, and for the Spain test Series in 2004 in India (winners). Adam had represented India in the 4 Nation Tournament in Japan 2004 and won the Silver medal and for the 4 Nation Tournament in Düsseldorf, Germany and won the Silver medal. Adam represented India in the Indo- French Test Series in 2004, in the Junior Asia Cup 2004 in Pakistan (winners), in the 8 Nation Challengers Trophy in Poland 2004 (winners) and for the Indo- Ireland Test Series 4 matches in 2004 Germany (Winners). He represented India in the Junior World Cup, Rotterdam 2005- 4th place, in the 6 Nation Tournament, Malaysia 2005 – 3rd place. Adam also represented India in the 4 Nation Tournament in Bilbao, Spain 2005 (winners). Adam said that he had represented Chennai Veerans in the Premier Hockey League and secured the second place. Also held the post of Captain for the same. He further stated that he had represented Tamil Nadu in the Junior Nationals held at Raipur and secured the third place. Adam was selected to represent India for the SAF games at Sri Lanka and won the Silver medal. Adam also is a National Champion in athletics. He was the Gold Medalist in All India level in 2002- in Triple Jump (Venue- Kanpur), the Silver Medalist in Long Jump in 2002 – Kanpur. He won the silver medal in South Zone Long jump and Triple jump. Presently Sinclair plays for the Chennai Veerans. Adam Sinclair currently plays club hockey in Germany. Adam told Chennai Plus reporter that his ambition is to get back on the Indian Hockey team, win tournaments and to bring name and fame to India. Chennai Sailor Ajay Rau has secured India’s best position at any Laser World Championships. He told Chennai Plus that “It was a great experience being part of a professional team and racing in these massive keel boats. I have a long way to go and there is a lot to learn. This development is the beginning of chasing my dream of maybe one day competing in ‘Ocean Racing Regattas’ such as the ‘Rolex Sydney to Hobart’ or the ‘Volvo Ocean Race’,” Ajay further added. The talented world no 15 Radial Sailor has participated in the 2009 Down under series. With the 2012 Olympics in London and 2016 in Rio, Sailing is going to be the centre of attention during the next two Olympic Games as both host countries are very strong in this sport and both the locations boast of some of the best racing conditions in the world. Ajay is one of the rare Indian sailors to make rapid progress in the sport in such a short time. Ajay Rau, born and brought up in Chennai. He have been sailing since as long as he can remember. Ajay said that he has the ambition and the goal of becoming a top class laser sailor. A goal that I strive to achieve everyday, says Ajay. In fact he has participated and done well at number of International sailing championships Ajay has many ambitions and dreams .One of his dearest ambitions is to Compete in the 2012 Olympic games. The recent Selection Trials for National Sailing Squad for the year 2010 was conducted by the Yachting Association of India along with Tamil Nadu Sailing Association. The Principal Race Officer was Mr.Khoo Boo Sun from Singapore who, with 30 years of experience behind him, made sure all the 12 races were run on an excellent. In the Laser Radial class Ajay Rau from RMYC put up an impressive show to finish 2nd with 39 points. Rohini Rau, the top woman sailor proved her talent by finishing first in a race. She finished a very commendable 5th overall with 52 points.In the 2010 Asian Sailing Championships which will be held in Shanwei, China from 20th to 29th March, India will be sending the top 2 sailors to participate in the event.

Awareness Programme On Tiger Conservation

The NCC Cadets of SRM Engineering College conducted an awareness programme on Tiger Conservation at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park located at Vandalur, to learn about the morphological characters of the animal. During the event the students were briefed on the behavior and life style of the tigers by Zoo Biologist Dr.M.Sekar. About 60 college student took part and also collected more than 1000 signatures messages on wildlife from all the Zoo visitors.

Hockey Tournament Champions

The talented Air India team won the MCC-Murugappa hockey tournament recently. The event was held at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium. Air India received the Winning Gold Cup Trophy and a attractive Cash Award of Rs.1,50,000, and the runner-up Indian Oil Corporation received a Cash Award of Rs. 1,00,000.Mr. M.V. Murugappan, Chairman, Murugappa Chettiar Research Centre, presided and gave away the prizes. Mr. S.K.A. Manickavasagam, President, Madras Cricket Club, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Arun Murugappan, Organizing Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.

The Player of the tournament Award was bagged by Deepak Thakur (IOC),the Man-of-the-Match Award went to Prabodh Tirkey (Air India).

The Best forward player award went to Adam Sinclair (IOB),the Best mid-fielder player award went to Senthil (IOB),and the Best defende rAward was given to Innocent Kullu (Railways).

The Tamil Nadu Police team lead by Inspector General of Police C.Sylendra Babu, Special Task Force, has won Eight Gold Medals, Five Silver and Eight Bronze Medals at the All India Shooting Competition held at Indore.

The Gold medal winners are Sub Inspector Rajeswari and woman Police Constables Gomathi,Sasikala,Syamala,Bharathi and Devaki.Sharmiti,Junitha,Sridevi,Radhika won Silver medals and Bronze medals respectively. The Tamil Nadu DGP KP.Jain congratulated the medal winners for bringing name and fame for the Tamil Nadu Police Force.

Southern Railway Athlete

Southern Railway athlete Ms. Preeja Sreedharan represented India in the Beijing Olympics 2008 in 10,000m. She was appointed by the Southern Railway on 02.12.2002, she is presently working as Sr. Clerk in the Commercial Department of Palghat Division.

Earlier, she represented India in the Asian Indoor Games at Maccau in 2007 and won Silver in 3000m. She has won Silver in 5000m at the Asian Track and Field at Jordan and at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha in 2007. She also represented India at the Doha Asian Games in 2006.She is the current national record holder in 10,000 mts.

Get, Set, Go - Rally for Charity

The Flag off ceremony of the Rally for Charity was held on Sunday the 5th October 2008 at Ispahani Centre, Nungambakkam High Road, Chennai-6.

The Prize distribution ceremony of the Rally was held at the Madras Gymkhana Club. S.M Ispahani, President, Doveton Corrie Alumni Association told the Chennai Plus reporter Elwyn that about 30 cars and bikes actively participated in the event. He further stated that this event would be regularly held as an annual event.In the cars category the First Prize went to Car no 34 driven by Shalmraj.

The second Prize went to Car no 32 driven by Ramesh, and the Third Prize was awarded to car no3 driven by P.N.Sarvanan. In the Two Wheelers category the First Prize was awarded to Bike no 18 driven by Rohit John Mathew.

The Second Prize went to Bike no 17 driven by Pawan Kumar and the Third Prize went to Bike no 16 driven by Vikram Vigneshwar.

Chennai Port Sets Record

The Chennai Port Trust set a National Record in barites shipment by loading 30,200 MT of barites in a single day on to the MV North Spirit, surpassing the previous record of handling26,000 MT on the 26 September 2006.

Football Tournament

The Chennai Football Association will conduct an Inter-School Football tournament for girls in the under 14 and 17 category. The tournament starts from the 16th October 2008.The last date to enter the tournament is the 14th October 2008.
