At present soil testing and pillar foundation work is going on at the junction of Nelson Manickam Road and Poonamallee High Road near Ampa Skywalk. The traffic movement near Anna Arch is on the rise every day. The Anna Arch flyover project aims to connect Poonamallee High Road, Nelson Manickam Road and Anna Nagar Third Avenue.
The two-lane flyover would be 520-metre long and the carriageway would be 7.50-metre wide. The flyover leading to Anna Nagar III Avenue would have a loop, which would land near the Arignar Anna Government Hospital of Indian Medicine. Provision of several service roads would also be an important part of the project. Tamil Nadu government has approved the alternative alignment of the flyover coming up at the junction of Poonamallee High Road and Anna Nagar Third Avenue near Anna Arch. The new flyover alignment does not require any additional land acquisition, says Highways department official. The compound wall of the Government Siddha and Ayurveda College will be demolished to raise the flyover. At present flyover pillars have come up along Anna Nagar Third Avenue, Poonamallee High Road and also near Ampa Sky Walk in Nelson Manickam Road.
