Social Worker With A Spiritual Approach!

Mrs.Vedavallai (alias) Mrs. Latha Ramanujam is a well known social worker having a Spiritual approach. After completing her school education at NKT School in Triplicane, Chennai she did her B.A. (Economics) at Queen Mary’s College. She married Mr. S. Ramanujam. He retired as Under Sectary to Govt. of Tamil Nadu. They have two daughters and grandchildren living in Lakshmi Nagar, Nanganallur.

Social Service And Religious Activities


Mrs. Latha Ramanujam is one of the founder of Lakshmi Ladies Club Nanganallur functioning for the past 18 years. Mrs. Latha Ramanujam told the Chennai Plus reporter Elwyn, that the club has helped to bring the hidden talent in women, children mostly housewife through many events and functions.

The 60 odd members are well trained to do social as well religious work for the sake of the community at large. The Club has conducted many awareness medical camps for the benefit of children and women in particular and in conducting rich Cultural events in conformity with the traditions.

She is also the Secretary -cum-Trustee of Nangai Educational Charitable Trust
headed by Dr. S Neela and the organisation is helping to the tune of Rs.3 laksh
to the needy funds to poor/middle class students numbering 50. She is also the
Assistant Secretary-cum- Trustee of Neer Exnora, an affiliated of Exnora founded
by Mr. M B Nirmal. Several water bodies in and around Chennai has been
rejuvenated by this organization and the work is still going on.

She is Vice President of All India Vishnu Sahasranama Cultural Federation Chennai Chapter which has got over 50 Mandalis in the City of Chennai and several
programmes are conducted by this organisation.

Awards And Honours

Mrs. Latha Ramanujam is the recipient of the following awards. She was awarded with
” Sri Vaishnava Sri by Sri Vaishnava Trust and Best Writer by Sri Vainava Maha Sangam. She got the Best Social Worker award by Ranga Memorial Trust, Chrompet and the “Thozi Excellence Award ” by Raadhu”s Drama Academy. She was honoured with Padaipu Chemmal by Tamilaga Kalvi Aaraikchi Valarchi Niruvanam.

Informative Talks

She has presented Talk programmes on leading TV channels. She has given valuable talks on subjects such as Night Patrolling in suburban areas, Contribution by public and women Under Ground Drainage Scheme by Alandur Municipality under Public Private Partnership – the joy of end user.

She as also participated in Jack Pot and won prizes and also Special Guest featured in Morning broadcast. She appeals to each and every housewife to spend their leisure hour in a productive manner by teaching on the issues which you know to others. We must always encourage tradition values culture and discipline among children and raise our voice against dowry and any harassment of women in any form, she further added.
