In view of the Diwali festival, the Chennai city police is taking no chances and has stepped up vigil throughout the city, especially in T Nagar, Purasawalkam, Broadway etc Extra police personnel would be deployed to manage the crowd and maintain law and order in the area. Traffic police have also made arrangements to ease congestion. The Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services department is also on alert.
Fire fighting vehicles are also ready to combat any accident. Mr.T. Rajendran, Commissioner of Police, stated that the Police force will be keeping a close watch on the shopping areas. For this purpose, police watch towers has been setup and important and busy public places are brought under CCTV surveillance.
