A beach cleanup campaign was organized by AVM Rajeswari School, Virugambakkam and “Green Coalition” –Earth’s Army, sponsored by Ideasonic, Logica and Royal Sundaram Group. The event witnessed a strong team of about 250 student volunteers and 50 other volunteers including the teachers of AVM Rajeswari School, jointly held a campaign to clean up the Elliot’s Beach at Besant Nagar.
The enthusiastic students were provided with caps, hand gloves and carry bags to collect the garbage in the beach. The Students started picking up plastic materials and garbage thrown around.
The Students were even joined by morning walkers and other senior citizens in the beach. Banners prepared by students to create awareness among the public to stop usage of plastic, working towards a litter free society and encouraging Greenery were displayed.
Students from the age group of 14 to 17 took part in the event. The Students were educated and encouraged to use non-plastic and eco-friendly items in their day to day life. Students and Volunteers were provided with light refreshment at the end of the event.
