Dance, Music And Drama Festivals

A drama festival of Kartik Fine Arts was recently inaugurated at Narada Gana Sabha. The special guests for the function were Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti and Ms Y G Parthasarathy. Tamil plays are also staged. Guests can review the plays and the best get prizes. Prizes for the best plays will be given on June 1 at the same venue. Since its inception in 1975 by a band of ardent and enthusiastic lovers of arts, Kartik Fine Arts, a sabha devoted to the development of fine arts, has been striving hard to keep alive its motto of providing sumptuous variety of programmes for the middle class people of the society at affordable rates.Dr. Raja Sir Muthiah Chettiar and Padmabhushan Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer graced the grand inaugural ceremony held on 13th April, 1975 at R.R. Sabha. Smt. Radha and Jayalakshmi offered musical tribute to the Almighty while Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman & Shri G.J.R. Krishnan with Shri Vellore Ramabadran on Mridangam and Shri Vinayakram on ghatam gave the inaugural concert.

Shri Cho. S. Ramaswamy and Shri K. Balachander offered felicitations.The sabha has grown in leaps and bounds in the following years. Shri A.V.S. Raja succeeded Shri T. T. Vasu as President, in the year 1989 under the commendable aegis of whom the sabha scaled new heights. Kartik Fine Arts stole the maximum limelight and exceptional public accolade in 1996 when Shri L. Sabaratnam adorned the post of Chairman of the Sabha. Kartik Fine Arts was started in the year April 1975 by a band of ardent and enthusiastic lovers of arts. Balachander offered felicitations Kartik Fine Arts organizes a variety of programmes every month for its members.

Special thrust is given for staging dramas regularly and it is very well known that inauguration of every new drama is staged only under banner of Kartik Fine Arts for several years.Kartik Fine Arts is conducting various festivals during the December Music Season spanning over a period of 60 days from the 1st of December every year. Music, Dance and Drama programmes are organized everyday and opportunities are given for more than 700 to 800 artists during the season. The Dance Seminar is conducted every year for three days from 26th December to 29th December with the participation of large gathering of Dancers from various states showcasing their talents in their field of specialty. Moreover, discussions, debates and inter-action sessions are arranged during the seminar and eminent Guru’s, Scholars and music exponents.Tamil Isai Vizha is conducted every year at Anna Nagar giving utmost importance for the promotion of Tamil Classical Music for one week from 26th December to 1st January. Many well-known, eminent and popular musicians are giving concerts everyday.

This gives an opportunity for music lovers living around Anna Nagar, Villivakkam, Perambur, Kolathur and Mugappair to witness the live concerts of the galaxy of musicians. Kartik Fine Arts is very proud to state that there is tremendous response for these plays from the fans of Chennai city during the entire week and they come in large numbers to witness these dramas and enjoy the best plays. Kartik Fine Arts is recognizing the merits and talents of both the young and old musicians by conferring titles, presenting them with cash awards and exquisite mementos every year during the festival season.
