Mr.G.Thangaraj, Maths teacher of Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School, Nungambakkam is a recipient of top honours and awards. He is an orgniser on informative Science Awareness programmes. Mr.Thangaraj said that he started his career in Government Higher Secondary School, Pulicat and has served 14 years in the teaching field at the Purasawalkam Corporation School.
He has organised a lot of awareness programmes which included a trip for teachers to Kalpakkam during 2005. Mr.G.Thangaraj told the Chennai Plus reporter Elwyn, that he is a recipient of Popularisation of Science Award in the year 2000.
He was also awarded with the Solar Energy Service Award in 2005 from Kalpakkam Group Director and the Seermighu Award. G.Thangaraj has organised nearly 25 programmes on Dental Hygiene. G.Thangaraj is presently the District Coordinator-Chennai of National Green Corps (NGC), Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu. He supervises and monitors the environment activities of NGC in schools. Before coming to the teaching field, Thangaraj had worked in MGR Transport Corporation, Kanchipuram. He had earlier, worked as a part-time reporter for a leading Tamil Daily newspaper.
Awarded For Meritorious Service
As part of the Teachers Day celebration-2011, G.Thangaraj was honoured with the Dr.Radhakrishnan Best Teacher Award by School Education Minister, C Ve Shanmugam at a grand function held at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School, Chetpet. The awarded carried a prestigious medal, cash gift and an appreciation certificate. Moreover the Chennai Corporation has awarded him for 100 percent results in plus two examination and participation in the CCRT training at Hyderabad.
Thangaraj also complies articles for a famous science magazine Arivukkan. G.Thangaraj was felicitated by Assistant Education Officers, namely, Jebasingh, Ranjani and K.Perinbaraj. Mr.PK.Ilamaran, State President of Tamil Nadu Teachers Association, M.Ravikumar, General Secretary, FSCT and J.Daniel Chellappa, Scientist of Kalpakkam at a grand function held at Corporation School,(29-A, Gangadheeswarar Koil Street, Purasawalkam) for winning the ‘Best Teacher Award’ Purasawalkam.
